This antique cast iron coal hole cover was manufactured by Hayward Brothers of 187 & 189 Union Street, Borough, London, a renowned 19th and early 20th-century ironworks firm specializing in street furniture, manhole covers, and coal plates. The design features a decorative circular pattern with four raised sections, each containing ventilation holes, which were commonly used to provide access to coal chutes for Victorian and Edwardian homes.
