Pair large mid 20th century African Benin bronze human skulls,c1950.They are rare examples, I have been collecting for many years and this is the first time I have seen skulls from Nigeria. Beautifully cast and decorated each skull has subtle differences ,I suspect to depict a male and female skull. The bronze has taken on good colour / patina and they are highly decorative. Overall condition is very good with only very minor surface wear and the usual small casting holes associated with African tribal pieces cast using the lost wax method.
