Description

Rare and unusual pair of hand carved wood goblets from the Pitcairn islands, dating to the late 20th century c1970. The Pitcairn Islands are famous as the place where the crew of the Mutiny on the Bounty landed and settled. The Island is noted for its carvers who are said to be descendants from the original crew. The goblets are beautifully turned and carved and depict open hands holding the cup section. Both are marked "Souvenir from Pitcairn Island" .The wood on both has taken on great colour/patina and they are in good condition with only minor surface wear and very small cracks on the base where the wood has expanded and contracted. Please refer to the detailed photographs and feel free to contact me if you would like to view them or have any questions.
