Description

Two rare and unusual hand carved wood goblets from the Pitcairn Islands. The Pitcairn Islands are famous as the place where the crew of the Mutiny on the Bounty landed and settled. The Island is famous for its carvers who are said to be descendants from the original crew. The goblets are beautifully turned and carved and depict hands holding the cup section. One is marked "A Souvenir from Pitcairn Island" , the other "Jacob Warner age 83 Pitcairn Island 2004". The first is not dated but looks to be 1980-2000. The wood on both has taken on great colour/patina and they are in good condition with only minor surface wear and a very small crack on the base of one where the wood has expanded and contracted.
