Description

A stunning and large pair of vintage African Ogboni Yoruba tribal bronze fertility figures/staffs, Nigeria, c1940. Cast in the traditional lost wax method, the quality of the casting is great and the figures are beautifully composed and decorated.

These are a matched male and female pair and they have aged beautifully, with good colour/patina. There is a split in the casting on one figure, by the leg, which we have highlighted in the pictures, but this is almost certainly a product of the original casting process rather than subsequent damage, and is part of the character of the piece.
