Description
A 19th century Italian wax portrait of Giovanna Tornabuoni. Born in Florence in 1468, Giovanna was a noblewoman who died in childbirth with her second child in 1488. She had already provided a male heir for her husband Lorenzo and he commissioned Ghirlandaio to paint her portrait. Thereafter she was revered and celebrated and this may be a Grand Tour souvenir.
