Description

Splendid late 19th.c. carved oak pedestal desk c.1890. Desk top with a green leather writing surface and carved edge over three drawers. Raised on twin pedestals, each with three drawers, either side of a good sized kneehole. Drawer fronts carved with handles modelled as The Green Man (an mythical figure re-popularised by Gothic Revival and Arts & Crafts designers in the 19th.c. century) against scrolling foliage. Carved detail to the uprights and the moulding around the plinths. Panelled sides and rear, polished all round. Very good condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops and fitted with a new leather. Key supplied for the three top drawers.
