Description

Large Italian polychrome alabaster and marble bust of Joan of Arc c.1900. Shoulder length bust of Saint Joan as a peasant girl, her hair covered and eyes gazing to heaven. Head and neck beautifully carved in white alabaster whilst the tunic and sleeves are in veined grey and pink marble. Signed on the rear ‘Cav. Professor E Montoni. Made in Italy’. Very good condition with only very minor scratches and wear. Presented on an ebonized turned wooden stand.
