Description

Fine late 19th.c. Italian alabaster bust of of a woman, probably intended as an image of the Virgin Mary, c.1890. Beautifully carved with downcast gaze and wearing vale or headscarf with a patterned border and gathered across the chest. Some minor damage to the edges of the cloth, otherwise excellent condition. With a brass lined hole in the base for fixing to a plinth.
Dimensions: width 11″, depth 6″, height 14″.
