Description

Set of six bistro type dining chairs by the celebrated Austrian industrial furniture pioneers Jacob & Joseph Kohn c.1900. Bentwood frames with exceptional pressed back and seat panels featuring a remarkable Renaissance style grotesque design of a bearded green man within a border of fruits and acanthus leaves. Turned detail to the top of the rear stiles and shaped legs. With labels for J&J Kohn of Wsetin to the underside of several of the chairs. Now known as Vsetin (in the Czech Republic) was well known for furniture production, the Thonet brothers also having established a factory there. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Note one of the chairs has a different pattern seat, otherwise identical.
