Description

Impressively large Edwardian era half model of a ship’s hull c.1910. Very nearly nine feet long, made of laminated strips of solid hardwood and beautifully shaped. Half hulls were used in shipyards to provide an accurate three dimensional and scaled model of a prospective ship’s form from which plans could be drawn. As such this model is carefully marked in ink with a numbered vertical grid and horizontal lines showing the positions of the decks and stringers (horizontal structural members). Excellent condition, with fixing plates for attaching to a wall plus six good quality brass hoops for hanging – though with safety in mind please note this is a very heavy item!
