Description

Fantastic scratch built model of an Irrawaddy paddle steamer measuring an impressive 51” from bow to stern. Superbly detailed, with a metal hull and wooden decks. A working model with a battery powered electric motor inside which powers the paddle at the rear.

The vast Irrawaddy river in Burma has a fine history of cargo and passenger boats. The Irrawaddy Flotilla Company was established in 1865 and by its peak in the late 1920 had the largest fleet of river boats in the world, boasting over 600 vessels. The company was Scottish owned and remarkably the boats were built in Scotland, dismantled and shipped to Burma to be reassembled.
