Description

Unusual late 18th.c. oak Welsh potboard dresser base from mid wales (Brecon or Montgomeryshire) c.1770. Two plank top with a simple moulded edge (note the 12½" deep front board). Over three slim drawers with scratch carved edges to the drawer fronts and what appear to be the original brass handles with an attractive thistle motif to the back plates. Three shallow arches to the apron raised on unusually shaped baluster silhouette legs. Joined to the sturdy square rear stiles with an open potboard display shelf with the original oak boards. Oak sides and back. Note the pegged construction. Repairs to the bottom of the legs, otherwise very good condition with excellent colour and patina. Restored, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
