Description

Remarkable Italian Art Deco walnut sideboard c.1930. Separate display cabinet to the top fitted with a single plate glass shelf (internal depth 12") on adjustable chrome brackets. With the original sliding glass doors etched at the rear with a design of sail boats. Raised on flared plinths over a deeper three door cupboard base, each cupboard fitted inside with a single shelf (internal depth 17"). Glass panel to the centre door featuring a remarkable hand-cut etched Neo-Classical style illustration of a woman (Helen of Troy perhaps?) in a flowing robe sat on a low wall and looking into a hand mirror. The glass panel is backed with a black vinyl type material to make the design stand out to dramatic effect. Highly figured walnut veneers laid to create a symmetrical pattern across the exterior. With broad raised mouldings framing the fronts of both the upper and lower cabinets and original brass rosette handles. Raised on massive reeded column legs (continuing the Classical theme) with flared bases. Very good condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
