Description

Beautiful 20th.c. English silver chalice or goblet hallmarked London 1975. Commissioned as an edition of 150 by the Fitzwilliam museum Cambridge and designed by the celebrated British silversmith Jocelyn Burton (1946 - 2020) for Aurum designs. Weight 12oz. Standing 9" tall with a tapering pentagonal bowl with gilded interior on a stem with scored surface texture and a 'knot' set with five pale blue topaz cabochons. Flared base stamped on the underside with a full set of hallmarks, the Fitzwilliam crest and numbered 38/150.
Sold together with the original presentation case and booklet (also numbered) detailing the manufacture of the cup. Excellent condition.
