Description

Very impressive late 19th.c gilded mirror or pier glass c.1880. Standing 84½" tall, ideal to stand on the floor in a hallway or as a dressing mirror in a bedroom or clothes shop perhaps. 39½" x 66½" mirror plate with a bevelled edge. Giltwood and gesso frame with a superb Classical style arrow quiver, torch and crown of roses at the centre of the frieze above the mirror. Flanked with long turned and fluted columns with acanthus leaf detail and floral garlands to the plinths below. Original gilding with some retouching where the gesso was damaged, most obviously around the base. Generally excellent colour and condition.
