Description

Very smart small French Louis XV style parquetry chest of drawers or commode c.1960. Just 35½" wide. Highly figured rouge griotte marble top with a serpentine shaped and moulded edge. Over a chest of three drawers with bombe shaped front and sides. Striking parquetry veneered drawer fronts and side panels, in contrasting woods with inlaid stringing an a darker kingwood surround. Decorative brass handles and escutcheons. Large pierced and brass mounts to the shoulders and at the centre of the shaped apron below the drawers. Splayed legs with brass mounts to the front feet. Oak drawer linings. A few old marks to the marble, otherwise excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
