Description

Quality late 19th.c. walnut secretaire abattant or bureau with drawers c.1880. Useful narrow dimensions, just 29½" wide. Original grey marble top over four working drawers and a fall front bureau which opens to form a 23" x 20" desk with a green baize work surface. Very attractive interior with sparkling birch burr veneers featuring shelves and three mahogany lined drawers. Decorative exterior with symmetrically arranged walnut veneers and crisp acanthus carved detail to the drawer fronts. Flanked with unusual carved detail to the shoulders. Shaped and carved apron and legs with a carved female head at the centre. Mahogany drawer linings and walnut back panels. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied for the desk and drawers.
