Description

Fine quality Sheraton style satinwood bureau bookcase c.1920. Glazed bookcase top fitted with two adjustable glass shelves (internal depth 7½") over a bureau base. Open the fall to reveal a writing desk with fitted interior of eight little drawers and six pigeon holes arranged around a lockable central cupboard. With two short drawers and three long drawers of graduated height below the desk. Satinwood veneers with rosewood crossbanding and ebony and boxwood stringing. Crisp moulded cornice with sawtooth inlay and a crossbanded frieze, over slim moulded glazing bars. Unusual drawer fronts designed to look like two banks of short drawers. Original brass handles and knobs. Shaped apron and feet to the front and sides. Mahogany interior, drawer linings and loafers. Some minor wear to the veneers. Generally very good colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
