Description

Superb mid 19th.c. Welsh dresser base from the isle of Anglesey c.1860. Two plank top, note the 15" wide front board, with an applied moulded edge. Over three drawers across the top plus three more drawers at the centre (rather than the dummy drawer fronts often featured) plus two cupboards (internal depth 17"). Exceptional decorative detail to the front of the dresser. The dot and diamond motif is typical of the market town of Talwrn on Anglesey, though used here in greater profusion than is commonly found. With rosewood and mahogany inlaid detail across the drawer fronts and frame, octagonal door panels within a moulded surround with parquetry mahogany fans at the corners, diamond shaped bone escutcheons. The brass knobs are good quality later replacements. Applied moulding along the bottom edge and bracket feet to the front. Deal panelled sides and rear. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Keys supplied.
Width: 66" (167.5 cm)
