Description

Louis Duchene & Co., Geneva, c1810
Gold case, 54 mm
Verge, calendar

An interesting Swiss gold verge watch, with calendar subdial showing both the date and day of the week.

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge movement with finely pierced balance bridge and large silver regulator disk. In good condition, and running well.

All of the calendar features are working correctly.

DIAL : An unusual white enamel dial, with subsidiary seconds, date and day dials. Gilt Breguet type main hands and blued steel subsidiary hands.

Average condition, with repairs to the edge at 3 and 6, and one longer hairline between 2 and 4, and a few light shorter ones.

CASE : Gold, with serial numbers (5237 & ?190), rubbed maker’s mark (?IB) and the French gold mark of 3 chevrons.

There are signs on the inside of the back of an old repair, and a few small dents, but generally fine. The bezel snaps shut correctly, and the high dome bull’s eye crystal is almost perfect, with just one small chip right on the bezel.

Louis Duchene & Co.are listed in Geneva from the late 18th century until about 1810.
