A fine small Geneva verge watch, with particularly beautifully enamelled gold case.

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge movement, with pierced signature (ARLAUD) on the balance bridge .

The movement is in excellent condition, and is running well.

DIAL : White enamel dial, in very good condition with a light scratch below 7. Gilt Breguet style hands.

CASE : Rose gold with blue enamel bezel and rim. The enamel is inset with gold stars. Gold back with sunburst engraving and empty cartouche.

In fine condition throughout. Just a few scratches to the gold on the inside. The enamel appears to be perfect.
The hinges and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely. The crystal is perfect.

Arlaud is listed in Geneva around 1800.


PROVENANCE : From the collection of the late William Hughes (1922-2017), Bowral, Australia.
Philanthropist and entrepreneur, William Hughes frequently travelled to Europe and the United States of America. Fascinated by their design and movement, Hughes became a collector of pocket watches later in his life, often collecting pieces during his extensive travels.
