Description

Silver pair cases, verge - William Hannington, London, 1792

MOVEMENT : Gilt verge movement, with engraved and pierced balance cock. Blued screws and large silvered regulator disk. Fully signed and numbered (4134). Good condition and running well.

DIAL : 46 mm. White enamel 'doctors' dial, with overlapping chapters. In reasonable condition with no repairs or pieces missing but some hairlines across the bottom half.

INNER CASE : 50.85 mm, silver, hallmarked for London 1792, maker's mark IT. Also engraved with a serial number (4034 – I'm sure this was mistaken for 4134 and the case is certainly original to the movement). The hinge is missing one sleeve but the case does snap shut firmly. A lever on the side of the case stops and starts the movement. The high dome crystal is fine. The silver case is in very good condition except for the missing sleeve on the hinge.

OUTER CASE : 58.3 mm, silver, matching hallmarks to the inner. The hinge is fine, though the catch is absent. Otherwise in good condition throughout.

William Hannington is listed in London circa 1800.
