Verge movement

A London verge in gilt pair cases, made for the Turkish market.

MOVEMENT : Gilded verge movement, signed (Geo. Clarke, London) and numbered (1175) with pierced and engraved balance cock and plate. Four crested. Pillars. The movement is in reasonable condition, with some scratches around the pillar tops and some discolouration to the balance cock foot (solder repair) where the retaining pins have been reattached. Running well.

DIAL : White enamel, with Arabic numbers. In reasonable condition with no repairs but some light scratches, two light hairlines and a small chip at the centre aperture. Early black steel beetle and poker hands. (the minute has lost the tip).

INNER CASE : Gilt/brass in good condition, with no damage or repairs, and very little wear to the gilding. Stamped with maker's mark (IR). The hinge is fine and the case snaps shut. The high dome bull's eye crystal is in very good condition.

OUTER CASE : Gilt/brass, again in good condition with some wear to the gilding, mainly on the hinge and back . The hinge and catch are fine and the case snaps shut nicely.
