Silver case, 55.75 mm.
Lever movement

This is an English or Swiss lever movement watch, made for the Chinese market by the Bovet Fleurier, around 1845.

MOVEMENT Highly engraved lever movement, with steel balance wheel and fully jewelled. Signed in Chinese characters. Good condition, and running well, though the gilding is a little dull.

DIAL White enamel. Good condition with some surface scratches and light hairlines around the edge. Possibly restored. Matching blued steel hands.

CASE Silver consular case. With inner silver hinged cover. The outer cover is stamped with pseudo English hallmarks, maker LEB and serial number 3658. There are a few very light bruises on the back, but otherwise fine. The crystal has a few light scratchs and the covers snap shut correctly.

Watches by Bovet of London or Fleurier of Switzerland were sent to China up until about 1864. They were often marketed as 'Bovet Fleurier'.
They normally had duplex movements, but this example has a better quality fully jewelled lever movement.
