Description

MOVEMENT Fine quality cylinder movement, fully signed (CARTER, Tooley Street, London) and numbered (1000). Diamond endstone, blued screws, 5 spoke 3rd wheel and steel escape wheel. Protected by a removable gilt dustcap All in good original condition and running well.

DIAL White enamel, with subsidiary seconds dial. In perfect condition, except for just one light hairline across the edge between 6 and 7.

CASE Silver. Hallmarks for London, 1824, maker WL. Also stamped with the movement number 1000. A little wear around the band which was originally engine turned and an old repair on the inside of the back cover (at the catch). The back cover correctly springs open when the button on the pendant is depressed. In good overall condition and a nice heavy case. The crystal is fine.

John Carter, chronometer maker, is listed at Tooley Street, London from about 1830 until about 1850.
