Here we have a stunning Arts and Crafts Limed Oak chest of drawers c1900 by Heaton Tabb and Co Liverpool and London. Labelled in the top drawer. Heaton Tabb & Co. Ltd. was a British company, primarily a cabinet maker and decorator, known for its fine furniture and interior design work, particularly during the 19th and 20th centuries. The company was a subsidiary of the shipbuilder Harland & Wolff Ltd. and was responsible for fitting out the interiors of famous ocean liners, including the Titanic, Olympic, and Oceanic. Items made by the company are now sold at antique auctions, as they are often valuable collector's pieces. The quality of this companys work is relected in this chest being made from solid English Oak with a beautiful limed finish. The chest is very much in the style of Heal and Son or Liberty. There is a shallow gallery back and super grain to the plank top. The top two drawers have well carved fronts and the rest are plain but quarter sawn showing off the medullary rays within the Oak grain. The side supports extend to the floor making for stile feet. The drawers are oak lined with hand cut dovetail joints and original Cotswold style handles. A super period chest of drawers in excellent retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 102 cm high 92 cm wide 48 cm deep.
