Here we have a wonderful rare small George II Walnut bureau c1740. As you can see the bureau has stunning colour and patina. If you have been searching for one of these rare bureaus then look no further as this is the best example we have had through our showroom. The size is excellent and the originality and colour are superb. There is a quarter veneered top with cross banded border. The fall front has has a cross banded and feather edged surround and a beautiful figured Walnut half matched veneered front. This opens to reveal a stunning solid Oak fitted interior with an arrangement of drawers and pigeon holes. The drawers have handcut chunky dove tail joints and original handles. There is also a well with slide. The fall front has the original working lock and key. The drawers below have stunning brass handles and Oak linings with hand cut dovetail joints. The drawer fronts have figured Walnut veneers, feather banded borders and cockbeaded edges. There is a beautiful moulding to the base and original bracket feet which have lost no height. The underneath has an old paper label from 1906 for Curtiss and Sons of Portsmouth. A truly oustanding example in fantastic retail condition ready for your home. The dimensions are approx 77.5 cm wide 96 high 48 cm deep.
