Description

A fine George 111 eighteenth century Scottish longcase clock by George Monro of Edinburgh.Eight day movement striking on a bell.Brass break arch dial with silvered chapter ring,date aperture and seconds dial.Finely cut steel hands.Inscribed in the arch cartouche George Monro,Edinburgh.The hood with swan neck pediment supported by fluted columns with finely cast Corinthian capitals.The trunk with fluted quarter columns.Flame mahogany veneers.
Circa 1780.
In wonderful condition.In excellent working order.

George Monro was a celebrated Ediburgh clock maker.Born 1723 died 1804.Freeman clock and watchmaker of Canongate Hammermen 1750.

Width at trunk 13.25"(34 cms),at base feet 18"(46 cms)
Extreme depth (at hood) 10.75"(27.5 cms)
