Offered for sale are this superb quality set of ten victorian walnut dining chairs. .The chairs date from about 1850 and are attributed to Gillows. The upholstered backs are inset within a rope/plait carved border above overstuffed seats reupholstered in a neutral gold John Lewis fabric. The legs are turned and carved with turned stretchers and inset front brass castors. They are a superb quality long set of chairs that would go equally well with either a mahogany or walnut table. They are in excellent showroom condition with all joints firm and have been cleaned, revived and hand waxed. Each chaiir is stamped with the number 1107 and also stamps for T P Clark, J Thorpe in addition one chair also has a stamp for J Coulhurst ( He was a chairmaker in the mid 19th century in Lancashire).
