Description

Handsome mid 18th century George III Chippendale design mahogany secretaire bookcase of high quality. This bookcase has been made from the very best of timbers throughout. The base section has gorgeous panelled doors with original astragal moulded decoration and wonderful original blind fretted bracket feet. The secretaire drawer has its original gilded brass swan neck handles and is nicely fitted inside with drawers and pigeon holes with a central cupboard. The central cupboard door has a pleasing shaped fielded panel.

The top section has typical 13 pane atragal moulded doors with nice shape cornice above. The shelves inside are all the original oak ones with nicely moulded mahogany front edges and are fully adjustable. The base section has two of its original oak sliding trays inside. Both sections have their original oak pnaelled backs

All the mouldings used are the typcial mid 18th century shape. Nice feature with the central moulding beneath the drawer going all round the sides as well as the front.

The bookcase is a lovely original colour with great patination and has waxed up super.

There are a couple of minor repairs to be done included in the price.

SIZE 48" wide by 24" deep by 88 1/2" high overall. The bookcase is 12 1/2" deep. The base height is 43".
