Description

SUPERB early 19th century "east coast" Scottish mahogany longcase clock by JAMES DUNBAR of PERTH. This superb Scottish example is 100% original. The mahogany case has been made from the finest of mahogany timbers with satinwood cross banding, boxwood and ebony line inlay and a fancy brass inlay above the main door. The case is beautifully slim and elegant with long door to the trunk. The movement is of 8 day duration and strikes on the hour, the date works also. The painted dial, being an early one is sophisticated and un-cluttered. The clock is a gorgeous colour with original patination and wxed finish.

The maker, James Dunbar is listed as working from the High Street in Perth around 1810 - 1820.

The clock is in first class condition apart from a couple of very minor age shakes,
