Description

Good large size early 19th century Scottish Edinburgh made mahogany and inlaid bow-fronted sideboard of elegant design. The sideboard stands on 6 tapered square legs with moulded collar and shaped foot. The sideboard is bow fronted and curved on the sides as well. Three drawers which are oak lined, one long one to the middle with largers ones to each side, the right hand one beautifully fitted as a decanter / bottle drawer, the left hand one with sliding tray to the top. The larger drawer fronts have a segmented design to them with ebony stringing. The drawers have slightly later brass oval handles with swans. The drawers also have an ebony line inlay near the edge with a narrow mahogany cross banding. There is a boxwood and kingwood cross banding to the bottom on the sideboard and around the bottom of the central arch.

The sideboard retains its beautiful original brass gallery to the top which is shaped at the sides and can be fully dismantled in required.

The piece is in good condition with only very minor restorations to the cross banding. There are a couple of old splits to the ends.

The sideboard is a lovely mellow mahogany colour and the original finish is in good order.
