Description

Finest quality 18th century George III flame mahogany cased 8 day longcase clock by WILLIAM BARLOW of ASHTON. 14" size beautifully painted early dial with rolling moon phase top, second hand and date. Original pendulum and weights. Striking on a bell on the hour only.

The case is as good as they get, made from the very best flame mahogany with wonderfully carved top to the hood. Cluster columns to the hood and case. The base and trunk door with mirror matched flame mahogany venners. The long trunk door with great design to the top with curved moulded decoration. Canted corners to the base. The base section is all cross banded with a very intricate boxwood and ebony line inlay and boxwood fans to the corners. The case stands on very small plain type "feet". The case has its original oak back boards. The case is a gorgeous colour with rich and beautiful original patination.

The movement has been fully cleaned and repaired and is in perfect working order.
