Description

Superb un-touched original condition late 18th to early 19th century oak dresser and rack. Both the base and rack parts with original walnut inlayed banding. The base is a "filled in" type which I always think is more useful today with all the storage it offers. The base is breakfront in shape with a single drawer above a cupboard door to each end and a run of 4 drawers to the centre section. The base stands on its original ogee bracket feet. The drawers are all cock beaded with original iron locks, original brass knob handles and original bone inlaid diamond shape escutions. The quarter turned columns are also walnut.

The top "rack" section has 3 shelves and is in totally original condition and size with original sleigh type feet where it is screwed to the base. The rack has nice shape cornice to the top. The facings have a beaded mould to both edges with a walnut inlay to the centre.

The piece is a lovely "nutty brown" mellow colour and has shined up like glass with just one wax. I can't see any repairs to the piece anywhere. Just a really nice example of a Welsh dresser that is ready to be re-homed.

SIZE 67" wide. 18" deep at the ends, 19" deep in the middle. The dresser stands 80" high overall
