Description
A very fine and unusual basalt body model of Ganymede and the eagle from the original marble by Thorvaldsen. The figure is an exact replica of the marble original and of superb quality. The figure is marked P Ipsen, who was a ceramicist in Copenhagen at the end of the nineteenth century. The figure is in excellent condition and has a wonderful patina from being handled. C.1900.
