An extremely rare mid 19th century die stamped wine label. Peirced for Brandy on a scrolled name plate surrounded by cornucopia overflowing with fruit,wheat sheaves,a rake,sickle and tied bails With a banner either side stamped with the word 'FREE'.This label may be linked to the repeal of the Corn Laws in 1832 or perhaps to the early moves towards Free Trade in the early Victorian era. Unmarked but stamped MORDEN on the reverse for Sampson Morden,c1835 - 1845.In superb condition. Measures 5.5cm x 3.8cm.(C26)
