Description

A superb William IV silver Vinaigrette, hallmarked to the inside of the lid for the Birmingham Assay Office with a date mark of 1837 and the maker's mark of Francis Clark. The case has an engine turned design with edges that bear a floral design and an engraved cartouche in the centre.

The vinaigrette has a gilt lined interior with an attractive foliate pierced design to the grill. The hinge to the grill works well and the lid closes perfectly and the vinaigrette unusually still contains the original sponge.

A superb item for a collector of vinaigrettes.
