Mahogany Longcase Clock By John Schofield
A 13” square dial, mahogany longcase clock by John Schofield. The clock has a 6 pillar, 8-day movement striking hourly on a bell. The brass dial has a silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals, a silvered date aperture and a seconds ring, with cast brass spandrels to the corners. The trunk has a shaped top trunk door with quarter turned and reeded columns to the sides. The base has canted corners and stands on ogee bracket feet. The hood has turned and reeded columns with corinthian capitals and a swan neck pediment. The case is veneered in super curl mahogany. Circa. 1750
