Description

Here we have a very good quality early 20th Century Brass Fruit Bowl or Platter. It is designed as two interlocking vine leaves with the vine stocks as handles at either end. It stands on four bakelite feet so that the metal doesn't scratch the surface of your table.

There are no makers' marks to help with identification but is most probably French or possibly German in origin. It is very well cast and has the organic, flowing feel that is typical of the Art Nouveau era in the early years of the 20th century.

Condition is very good with no dings, dents or damage and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after a long period of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The dish is 36.5cm / 14.4ins long, 24cm / 9.4ins wide and 5cm / 1.9ins high. It weighs a very considerable 1.4kg / 49.5oz, not surprising given that it is solid brass.
