Description

Here we have an attractive Edwardian Sterling Silver Photo Frame. The frame has a visible picture size of 5ins x 3.5ins. The silver front is decorated with a thread and flower pattern and the back and easel strut are covered in dark blue velvet.

The frame was made by the Boots Pure Drug Co and assayed in Chester in 1910. Founded in Nottingham by John Boot in 1849, Boots The Chemist is now one of the UK's largest and most successful retailers. Between around 1900 and 1925, Boots produced and stocked a wide range of good quality household & personal silverware, primarily, though not exclusively, aimed at female customers. These attractive items have now become popular with collectors.

Condition is good with just a few small dings in the silver front and the overall superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 115 years of use. The hinges and strut are in good working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The frame is 17.6cm / 6.9ins high, 13.5cm / 5.3ins wide and stands 12.5cm / 4.9ins deep with the strut fully extended. It weighs 162g / 5.7oz.

The hallmarks, on the bottom left hand corner of the frame, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the sword and three wheatsheaves assay mark for Chester, the date letter K for 1910 and the B P D C makers' mark for the Boots Pure Drug Co.

Shipping in the UK is £13.00 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the frame.
