Description

Here we have a handsome large 8 pint Victorian Copper Kettle. The kettle is oval with a right angled spout and a central bracket handle with a fixed tubular hand grip.

As is almost invariably the case there is no makers' mark on the kettle, so we cannot say who it was manufactured by, but it is British and dates to around the 1840s to 1860s, just possibly a little earlier.

Condition is good, with just a couple of shallow dents and some scorching to the base, all of which has to be expected from use and the passage of time. The copper has developed a nice patina and the tinning on the inside is intact. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The kettle measures 30.5cm / 12ins from spout to back, 16.6cm / 6.5ins across the body and stands 28cm / 11ins high. It weighs in at a hefty 1.55kg / 54.7oz.

The kettle is stamped on the handle with the number eight indicating that it has an 8 pint capacity.
