Description

This is a handsome, tall late Victorian Brass "Beehive" Candlestick. The stick stands on a square base with chamfered corners. Two beehive style domed sections rise from this surmounted by a large geometric knop and a cylindrical sconce. There is a central push rod for ease of removing the candle stub.

As is almost invariably the case with brass candlesticks, there is no makers' mark but it is stamped England and has a registered design number of 223580, which dates the design to 1893.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 120 years of use. The brass has developed a nice patina and the push rod is in working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The candlestick stands 27.3cm / 10.75ins high and the base is 9.5cm / 3.75ins square. It weighs 578g / 20.4oz.
