Description

This is a handsome Pair of Early Victorian Tall Brass Candlesticks. The candlesticks have square bases with chamfered corners on which sit stepped conical bases. Above this are inverted beehives, small plain knops and then larger geometrical knops. The sconces are cylindrical. Both candlesticks have their original push rods for ejecting spent candle stubs.

The candlesticks were made in Britain and date to around the 1840s/50s or possibly a little earlier. As is almost invariably the case, there is no makers' or identifying mark of any kind.

Condition is very good, with just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after 160 years or more of use. The push rods are a little stiff but are in working order. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

These are tall candlesticks standing 26.8cm / 10.5ins high and the bases are 9.3cm / 3.6ins square. The pair together weigh 1.06kg / 37.3oz.
