Description

This is an attractive George V Glass & Sterling Silver Powder Bowl. The circular bowl is of lobed form with a flat base. The lid has engraved decoration around the top of the rim and a mirror inset into the underside. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The powder bowl was made in Birmingham in 1911. Unfortunately there is only a ghost of the makers' mark remaining after many years of polishing and we are unable to say who made it.

Condition is extremely good, with no chips or cracks in the glass, no dings or dents in the lid, no foxing to the mirror and just the minimal superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 110 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The bowl is 8.8cm / 3.4ins in diameter and stands 6.7cm / 2.6ins high to the top of the handle. It weighs 202.5g / 7.14oz.

The hallmarks, on the outside rim of the lid, are nice and clear to read with the exception of the polished away makers' mark. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham and the date letter m for 1911.
