Brass Mounted Cartographer's Magnifier, c1930s-50s

Description
This is a handsome and practical Cartographer's Magnifying Glass from the middle years of the 20th century. The domed glass is mounted in a circular brass body. This would have been used for looking at fine details on nautical charts and maps or for proof reading documents or architectural plans. The magnifier is British and dates to between around the 1930s and 1950s, or perhaps a little earlier. There is no makers' mark, so we cannot say who it was manufactured by.
Condition is very good, with no chips or cracks in the glass, which gives a clear magnified immage. The brass mount is very solid and undamaged with just the superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The magnifier is 5cm / 1.9ins in diameter and stands 3.2cm / 1.2ins high. It weighs 101.9g / 3.6oz.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
