Description

This is a good quality Vintage Sterling Silver Napkin Ring in the Art Deco style. The ring is square with chamfered corners and engine turned decoration around the body. The cartouche is engraved with the initial R.

The napkin ring was made in Birmingham by silversmiths Frederick Field Ltd and dates to 1963. Frederick Field founded his firm in Birmingham around 1910. They produced a range of smoking accessories and small items for personal use of consistently good quality. The company remained in business until the mid 1960s.

Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The napkin ring is 3.9cm / 1.5ins wide and 2.5cm / 0.98ins deep. It weighs in at a respectable 22.4g / 0.79oz of solid Sterling Silver.

The hallmarks, on the outside back of the napkin ring, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter O for 1963 and the F F makers' mark for Frederick Field.
