Description

Here we have a fine George II Sterling Silver Punch Ladle. The bowl of the ladle is circular with a coin set into the base. The handle is baleen with a twist section in the middle and a silver finial. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.

The coin in the bowl is a George II Silver Shilling dated for 1743. At this time, when a Sterling Silver coin was inset into an item it was not required to be hallmarked as the matching of the coin and the silver bowl was proof that it was of Sterling quality.

Condition is very good with no dings or dents in the silver bowl and shaft, no splits in the baleen handle and just the overall superficial surface wear that you would expect after around 280 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The ladle is 36.5cm / 14.4ins long and 6.3cm / 2.5ins in diameter across the top rim of the bowl. It weighs in at 50.5g / 1.78oz.

Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
