Description

Here we have a charming Edwardian Sterling Silver Pin Cushion. The pin cushion is in the form of a pig with a dark green cushion set into its back.

The pin cushion was made in Birmingham by E.F. Braham Ltd and dates to 1906. Edward Foligne Braham founded his firm in Birmingham in the mid 1890s and registered marks in Birmingham and Chester. The firm produced small items for personal use, dressing table and sewing accessories and small pieces of tableware. They remained in business until the late 1950s.

The pin cushion has definitely seen some use but its condition is still good with just a few little dings, mostly around the top rim where the cushion sits. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The pig measures 5.3cm / 2.1ins from snout to curly tail, 2.1cm / 0.83ins across the body and stands 2.6cm / 1in high. It weighs 18.9g / 0.66oz.

The hallmarks, on the underside of the body, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter g for 1906 and the E F B makers' mark for E.F. Braham Ltd.

Shipping in the UK is £11.50 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the pin cushion.
