2 x George V Silver Napkin Rings, R. Pringle, 1917

1 of 6
Description
This is an attractive Pair of George V Sterling Silver Napkin Rings. The rings are circular with bowed bodies engraved with flowers and foliage to either side of round blank cartouches. The napkin rings were made in London by noted silversmiths Robert Pringle & Sons and date to 1917. Robert Pringle started his business in London's Clerkenwell Road around 1870, with his sons joining the business in the mid-1880s. The company manufactured in London, Sheffield and Birmingham. They remained a family run firm until finally closing in the late 1950s. They made a wide range of silverware for domestic and personal use but are best known for their consistently good quality tableware and flatware.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 105 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each napkin ring is 4.7cm / 1.8ins in diameter and 2.6cm / 1in deep. The pair together weigh in at a very respectable 56.1g / 1.98oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the rear sides of the rings, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter b for 1917 and the R.P makers' mark for Robert Pringle & Sons.
